The world according to Kristin…
Kristin was a weird kid. While her friends had crushes on boy band members, she was fawning over Robin Williams, Chris Farley, and Eddie Murphy. Every Saturday night, we would set her VCR to record SNL. As soon as she got home from church on Sunday, she would watch each episode and take notes about what got the most laughs. In her 20’s, she received some training at Second City in Chicago. Another more experienced comedian took her aside and told her no one would buy her Pollyanna view of the world. He told her, “Comedy is about complaining. You’re too positive. You like people too much. There are no compliment comics, just insut comics. No one will buy this. Stick to teaching.” Unfortunately, at the time, she figured someone older and wiser might know the truth. So she took his advice and infused humor, laughter, and play into her high school Speech and Theatre classes for the next two decades.
Then in her forties, a student of hers with Autism expressed interest in persuing standup as a tool for helping people understand the beauty of neurodivergence. So Kristin took a standup comedy class at a club within driving distance, so she could take back what she learned to her student. But then something odd happened. She fell in love with standup and her childhood dream was reignited. She won the comedy contest at the end of the class, helped her student start his career, and then started her own. And the rest is history.
Through playful and interactive storytelling, you’ll travel with Kristin to her childhood, her classroom, her home, and her roller coaster ride with high functioning anxiety. Kristin is a certified Clean Comedy Collective comedian who can range from church clean to club clean but does not shy away from tough topics and finds the funny in ALL aspects of life. Her goal is to make you laugh until you pee a little and then leave with a little more hope in humanity.
